Knocked Up -  a new play by Tonya Foster                                             Opening Sept 12 and running through to Oct 18th

Tonya Foster wrote an incredibly piece of work, the kind of material that I love to work with. It’s thought provoking, sometimes uncomfortable and at times just about pure raw feelings. It’s an experience of one of the most integral parts of life, namely conception and birth. How and when we come into this world has such an influence on our paths as human beings and in this play, she explores and exposes all of it.

I have experienced this in my own life as greatly revealing. I found great truths and clearance in discovering the story of my own birthing experience. Also knowing more about the time of my conception has brought clarity to me about  my behavior in certain circumstances and the way I deal with change or when faced with choice and decision making.

It has been a surprising, astounding and definitely an awe-inspiring journey this past month working with a cast, 14 large and a director that allows us as actors to participate, enjoy and play. Being an intimate piece of work I think our little 30 seat theatre is the perfect venue where people will feel safe and allowed to experience all that the play will provoke. I am so proud to be a part of this cast and crew and of Shari Carlson Studio.

Again I experience why I came to be an actress. Acting is one of the greatest healing arts and part of the reason why I love this craft so much.
